Hello,
This is the project diary of my milling machine.
Because I'm a poor student, the project takes a while till it is completed. :-( Sponsors are welcome *g*

Friday, 07. July 2006 - First wiring and front panel
Here are some pictures of my arrangement of the electronic.
The aluminium rods are collective ground pins where the electric screens can be connected.

The LEDs are connected via simple Network cables.

A few hours later, a few more cables are wired inside the case.
This are the connectors for step and direction signals and encoder signals.
I used network cables again because they are screened.
For the 12V supply I made a small board to share the voltage via small connectors.

The cables are not yet arranged properly and many things are still missing.
And here is my front panel :-)

The elements are still missing because of moneyproblems :(

Friday, 17. July 2006 - UHU-controller already finished
Hi :)

I continued building the electronic. It's already finished.

A bit chaotic at the moment..
First tests were not really successfully :( I don't know the reason yet.

Thursday, 31. August 2006 - A new pair of linear rails
Hello :)

Today the last pair of linear rails arrived.
Thanks to rik from Belgium for this nice transaction.

Monday, 04. Septembre 2006 - Marriage of X, Y and Z :)
Today I did something on my YZ-portal.
Because I took rails with wagons which can only get screwed from above, I had to build something. Here it is.
base material:

Seems to fit.

Front

Now I mounted it on my X-rails, heaved the portal up and screwd everything together..

Oh yes... This makes me feel good :-) The heavy portal can now simply be moved with one finger.

Some milling-parts arrived:

The ball bearings doesn't really match... Next time I will invest more money in somebody more professional...
I drilled some parts as strutting to increase stability.

The 10 blocks are ready, too.
How it looks after that:

Ready:

The place of action for the blocks.
They act as stopper so nothing can move off the rails.

And the actual state in frontal view:

Tuesday, 05. Septembre 2006 - Bearing blocks for X
Today I drilled and sank the bearing blocks.

Then I pressed the first ball bearings on the shaft.

And so it looks when its mounted in the bearing block:

Wednesday, 13. Septembre 2006 - Construction of my servo mountings
Hi,
The hole night through I constructed my mountings for the motors.

And for the Z axis:

Friday, 15. Septembre 2006 - Testmounting of the Z axis
I got my last milling parts. Superb work, thanks Matthias !

Back view:

View at the Y axis. I have to size up the breakthrough becaus the tooth belt wheel is too big.

Monday, 18. Septembre 2006 - Breakthroughs in the table
Today I made the breakthroughs in my table.
I hope they are big enough. We'll see :)

Then my delivery from Maedler arrived:

Nice parts. Looks quite few for a fee of 300€.
